Employer: THE SALVATION ARMY Job Details: Job Location: PMC-Covington Family Store - COVINGTON, VA, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Job Category: Property, ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY Schedule/Hours: Monday–Saturday Pay Class: Part time, 29 hours (non-exempt) Pay: $12.77 This position is responsible for: The Warehouse Worker/Truck Helper is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the warehouse and thrift store by receiving, sorting, storing, and transporting donated goods. This position operates warehouse equipment, assists with loading and unloading donations, prepares materials for resale or recycling, maintains a safe and organized warehouse environment, and supports donation pickup routes as a truck helper. The role plays a vital part in ensuring donations are processed efficiently, donors receive excellent customer service, and The Salvation Army's mission is upheld through the proper handling and distribution of donated items. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare baling material and process recyclable materials. • Load, unload, sort, and distribute donated items throughout the warehouse. • Assist with donation pickup routes and transportation of donated goods. • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, safety, and security. • Provide courteous customer service and maintain positive donor relations. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: • Ability to follow instructions and work independently. • Knowledge of warehouse operations. • Knowledge of inventory control techniques, as well as logistics knowledge. • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. • Knowledge of basic math. • Skill in paying attention to detail, particularly in the manipulation and recording of numbers. • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. • Ability to compile and summarize information. • Ability to handle several tasks at the same time and work well under pressure. • Ability to meet attendance requirements. • Ability to communicate the English language. • Ability to lift scales, hand trucks, and dollies. • Ability to perform route mathematical calculations. • Ability to occasionally lift boxes of materials, donations. • Ability to load, unload, secure and protect goods. Work is performed in a stock room, warehouse, or store environment where there are discomforts associated with changes in weather. There are occasional discomforts associated with noise, crowds, dust, lint, chemical odors, and the like. Qualifications: Education and Experience: High school diploma or G.E.D.; And two (2) years of experience in sorting, receiving, storing, loading, and unloading of materials in a warehouse or store setting; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Requirements
