Position Summary The Solar Warehouse & Inventory Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operation and overall accountability of our Cahokia, IL warehouse. As the primary onsite resource for the warehouse function, this position is responsible for maintaining an organized, efficient, and well-controlled operation, including inventory and material control, receiving, equipment accountability, material storage and movement, and overall warehouse readiness. This position is expected to take ownership of inventory accuracy and warehouse processes, proactively monitor material levels and project needs, identify and resolve discrepancies, and address issues before they impact field operations. The Solar Warehouse & Inventory Specialist works closely with Operations and field personnel to ensure materials and equipment are properly received, tracked, stored, staged, and available when needed. Responsibilities also include supporting the daily readiness of solar installation and service crews by reviewing project plan sets and job requirements and preparing the appropriate materials and equipment for scheduled work. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable independently managing multiple priorities in a hands-on warehouse environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day operation, organization, accuracy, and readiness of the Cahokia warehouse. Maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking, counts, reconciliation, and the movement, assignment, and return of materials, tools, and equipment. Monitor inventory levels and project needs to identify shortages, damaged materials, discrepancies, or other concerns and address or escalate issues before they impact scheduled work. Receive, inspect, document, organize, and properly store incoming solar, electrical, construction, and other materials and equipment. Review solar project plan sets and job requirements to identify and stage the materials, equipment, and supplies needed for scheduled installations and service work. Ensure field crews have the appropriate project-specific materials and equipment before leaving for scheduled job sites. Coordinate with Operations and field personnel regarding upcoming projects, service work, schedule changes, inventory needs, and material availability. Utilize inventory systems and related computer systems to maintain accurate and timely warehouse records. Manage the return and organization of unused, excess, damaged, or project-specific materials following completion of field work. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and operationally efficient warehouse and material storage areas, following established procedures for the handling, movement, and storage of materials. Identify and implement opportunities to improve inventory control, material flow, warehouse organization, and overall efficiency. Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for warehouse-related needs, deliveries, and material issues. Provide general onsite office coverage as needed, including answering and directing incoming calls, assisting or directing visitors, and routing deliveries, documents, and other incoming items to the appropriate individual or department. Communicate professionally with employees, customers, vendors, delivery personnel, and other business contacts. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support operational and business needs. Qualifications: Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years of experience in warehouse operations, inventory, material handling, or a similar environment. Experience in the solar, electrical, construction, home improvement, or renewable energy industry strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret project plan sets and identify material and equipment requirements; solar plan set experience preferred. Working knowledge of inventory management, material control, and warehouse procedures. Ability to use barcode scanners, inventory software, and basic computer systems. Strong attention to detail, organizational, and planning skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and anticipate upcoming project needs. Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, identify and resolve issues, and take ownership of warehouse operations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with Operations and field personnel. Must have a valid driver's license. Forklift experience or certification is a plus; must be willing and able to obtain certification as required. Dependable with consistent attendance and punctuality. Ability to work safely around solar, electrical, construction, and warehouse materials. Physical Requirements Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, and perform other physical activities associated with warehouse work. Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment following appropriate training and authorization. Ability to work in warehouse and outdoor environments that may be subject to varying temperatures and weather conditions. Requirements
Candidates must have at least two years of experience in warehouse operations or material handling, with preference given to those with solar or construction industry experience. Proficiency in reading project plans, using inventory software, and maintaining a valid driver's license is required.
