To learn more about Jost Chemical please visit www.jostchemical.com [https://www.jostchemical.com] POSITION SUMMARY Jost Chemical is seeking a Material Handler to join our Packaging Department in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards. Working under the direct supervision of the Packaging Manager, this role supports the Packaging Department by inspecting, storing, issuing, and delivering materials, equipment, and supplies used in in-process chemical manufacturing. The ideal candidate anticipates supply needs, keeps packaging rooms running smoothly, and helps troubleshoot packaging issues as they arise. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Anticipate needs to keep packaging rooms supplied, including in-process material, boxes, drums, tape, and zip ties. * Remove and store in-process and finished goods for packaging. * Maintain organization of packaging supplies and in-process material areas; alert Crew Leaders, the Packaging Manager, and/or Purchasing when stock reaches reorder level. * Assist with packaging room set-up and support packaging and cleaning duties as needed. * Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves; secure loads with strapping, bracing, or padding using hand tools. * Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and dollies to move and reorganize material. * Lift heavy objects and clean work areas, machines, and equipment to assist operators. * Maintain and enhance site safety, following established safety procedures. * Serve as backup to the Materials Handler for loading and unloading trucks at the 8130 and 8150 docks. * Maintain and turn in all packing slips from deliveries. * Serve as backup to make boxes for the Packaging Department. * Transport finished goods between 8130 and 8150 when traveling between sites. * Perform other duties as assigned by Management for the betterment of Jost operations. QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or GED. * Three (3) or more years of relevant experience; manufacturing/GMP environment preferred. Knowledge of: * Mathematics and English comprehension (Basic level). * Packaging operations and production processes (Thorough level). * Raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective distribution of goods (Basic level). * Safety, health, and environmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures (Advanced level). SKILLS & COMPETENCIES * Troubleshooting and product inspection. * Attention to detail and recordkeeping. * Ability to comprehend oral and written English instructions. * Ability to drive a forklift in a safe and efficient manner. * Ability to follow established policies and procedures. * Manual dexterity, perceptual speed, and extent flexibility. * Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities based on business needs. * Willingness to work weekends or overtime as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Ability to work in extreme cold and hot (up to 120°F) environments. * Ability to pass a pre-employment physical with drug screen and physical capabilities test. * Ability to squat to touch the floor 10 times without assistance. * Graduated lift up to 55 lbs. in a box from 4″ to 57″. * Ability to stack 40 bags at 55 lbs. within 10 minutes. * Ability to push at least 102 lbs. from any height. * Ability to pull an average of 100 lbs. at 36″. * Ability to ascend/descend a vertical ladder 15 rungs (8 rungs, 2 times). * Ability to lift 30 lbs. to overhead extension for 1 repetition. * Ability to simulate a scraping movement with 20 lbs. clockwise/counterclockwise for 2 minutes at 18″ height. * Ability to simulate opening/closing a valve with a cross bar at 60″ height. * Ability to maneuver 185 lbs. from the floor to 4″ one time. Requirements
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or GMP environment. The position requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 55 lbs and operating forklifts safely.
