Job Description
Employer: Sappi Summary: The position requires coordination and close working relationships with international logistics serviceproviders, customs house brokers, customers as well as union employees within production facilities and distributioncenters. The overall objective of this position is to ensure the efficient and effective coordination of finished goods tocustomers and distribution centers while realizing cost savings and service improvements. Some travel is required. Responsibilities: Coordinates import and export logistics activities via ocean, air and truck with multiple carriers from point of pickup to point of deliveryProactively monitor import and export shipments from booking through delivery by tracking, maintaining records,and providing problem resolution as neededInvestigates problems, finds root causes, and develops solutionsAssesses the effectiveness of current global logistics and/or transportation processes, determines improvements,and coordinates institutionalized changeProvides analytical support for projects, new business opportunities, and proposalsResponsible for assembling data, analyzing performance, identifying problems, and developing recommendationswhich support the management of global logistics and supply chain operationsEnsures transport capacity for production facilities and/or distribution centers Monitors contract compliance of carriers and other global logistics service providers- ensures compliance with import and export customs requirements and regulationsDevelops standard operating procedures and performance standardsCoordination and communication of global logistics issues between logistics service providers, Inside Sales, and Outside SalesEvaluate global logistics service providers and mill shipping performance on a continual basis to ensure adherence to performance standardsCreate and publish reports on the performance of logistics Minimum Education, Skills, and Knowledge RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Studies or equivalent job-related experienceStrong quantitative and analytical skills; familiar with logistics and production planning concepts (e.g., just-in-time,materials requirement planning)Must be a self-starter who is able to work independently and possess the ability and desire to work effectively, withattention to detail, to meet the requirements of the position.Broad range of computer skills—database, spreadsheet, statistics applications, and logistics software packagesand a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsUnderstand transportation contracts and tariffsAbility to communicate findings, make recommendations, and facilitate changeComfortable working with individuals at all organizational levelsProject management skills. Requirements
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Studies, or a related field. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office, and a solid understanding of transportation contracts and production planning concepts are required.
