Job Description
Employer: R. Brooks Mechanical Heating and Air Conditioning Reports To: Director of Operations Direct Reports: Warehouse staff PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION Responsible for all warehouse operations and staff, ensuring all jobs scheduled for the next day have material and equipment pulled and staged. Supervises warehouse personnel and sets daily priorities. Responsible for all materials, supplies, etc. that leave the shop have been properly filled out on a material sheet. List all overstocked items and give them to Installation Coordinator for return to vendor. Check and put away stock orders. Purchase consumables, tools, and shop supplies. Manage refrigerant recovery, gas cylinder, and waste vendor accounts. Maintain shop, yard, and company trailers in clean, safe, and proper operating condition. QUALIFICATIONS Forklift certification required. Must hold a valid forklift operator certification prior to start. Experience with warehouse automation and process improvement (e.g., barcode/RFID inventory systems, warehouse management software, automated staging or pick processes) preferred. OSHA and EPA certifications are required. DAILY DUTIES Team Management Supervise and schedule warehouse staff to cover morning dispatch, deliveries, and end-of-day staging. Assign daily tasks and priorities to warehouse personnel; adjust coverage for call-outs or peak volume. Train new warehouse staff on stocking, staging, and safety procedures. Review warehouse staff performance against key indicators (below) and address gaps. Job Staging and Dispatch Assist Dept Managers with items necessary to dispatch the crew in the morning. Check schedule for all jobs installing tomorrow, pull material list and stage. Review schedule for upcoming jobs to make certain that all material lists have been turned in for pulling and staging; notify Dept Managers if any are missing. Pull truck stock for Service. Notify Service Manager of shortages. Report status of jobs pulled at day's end to Dept Managers. Inventory and Returns Notify Operations Management of any shortages on stock items. Put away any deliveries; mark equipment received with job name and number; stage in appropriate area. Put away all extra materials brought back by installers the day before. List return to stocks and give to appropriate department for return to vendor. Complete material detail list for all Commercial returns. Check with Service and Install teams for any needed stock. Perform quarterly/end of year inventory count and cycle counts. Identify and recommend opportunities to automate or streamline inventory and staging processes (e.g., barcode scanning, digital material sheets). Purchasing Purchase hand and power tools for technicians. Purchase hard consumables: strut, Sch. 40 PVC pipe, copper pipe, Ward fittings, all-thread rod, and sheet metal for the metal shop. Purchase welding and brazing supplies. Purchase refrigerant recovery containers for Service and Commercial. Refrigerant, Gas, and Cylinder Management Maintain refrigerant recovery program. Compile detailed list of refrigerant type and weights and submit to vendors to secure return deposits. Daily call-in for Service and Commercial gas cylinder exchanges. Coordinate propane cylinder exchanges for the fork truck. Facility, Equipment, and Waste Maintain facility in proper operating condition. Perform shop equipment repairs and routine trailer maintenance. Perform light electrical repairs. Maintain warehousing of company supplied tools. Generate check-out lists and reconcile upon return. Remove clutter and scrap from shop area. Safety and Compliance Conduct monthly fire extinguisher inspections and complete inspection check-off records. Operate and maintain forklift in safe operating condition. *Other duties as assigned. All resumes are held in confidence. Requirements
Candidates must hold a valid forklift operator certification and possess OSHA and EPA certifications. Experience with warehouse automation systems and process improvement is preferred to effectively manage inventory and team performance.
