Job Description
Employer: Bay State Milling Company SUMMARY Performs all tasks safely and efficiently. Prepares truckloads of flour for shipping in bulk containers. Assist mill crews with mill operations and sanitation. The position gives and receives support information to/from the Plant Manager, Quality Control Manager, Contract Carrier, Customers and Customer Service Representative to ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements in accordance with established company policies and procedures while maintaining the highest possible levels of safety, quality and productivity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Performs all tasks safely and efficiently. * Blends various flours and treats those flours with ingredients to meet customer and BSM Co. specifications. * Performs accurate quality assurance testing. * Moves tractor trailers for loading and staging. * Transfers flour bin to bin as needed. * Maintains equipment in the bulk loading system as required. * Completes the tasks on the Master Cleaning Schedule for bulk loading and keeps the records up to date. * Assist the mill crews when directed in operations, sanitation, safety, performance of the mills. * Keeps all of the bulk loading areas and the mill office clean and sanitary at all times. * Keeps accurate records of flour loads, trailers, inventories, etc. as directed. * Work on rotating shifts shall be required. Forty hours per week plus daily/weekend overtime as the job requires. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Current state driver's license and safe driving record. SAFETY Performs all tasks safely and efficiently. No preventable accidents; takes precautions to prevent risk of injury to self, others, or Company property. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. FOOD SAFETY / SECURITY REQUIREMENTS The Company is committed to producing and delivering defect-free products. To ensure this, all employees are required to be trained on and adhere to the Good Manufacturing Policies set forth by the Company as they pertain to personnel practices, equipment, and facilities. It is also vital that all employees be aware of the work environment and when possible, prevent accidental or intentional adulteration of products produced at this facility. As a result any employee has a right to put product on hold if they have a concern. At the plant level, only the Quality Assurance Manager and General Manager have the authority to release product on hold.
Requirements
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least one to three months of related experience. A current state driver's license and the ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting over 50 pounds, are required.
