Position Summary The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouse, inventory control, shipping, receiving, and material flow operations while supporting a multi-shift unionized manufacturing operation. This position provides leadership and direction to the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor and warehouse team while ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of materials throughout the facility. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for inventory accuracy across all manufacturing departments including Mixing, Extrusion, Finishing, and Shipping/Receiving. This role develops and maintains cycle count programs, investigates inventory variances, drives process improvements, and ensures inventory transactions accurately reflect operational activity. The Warehouse Manager also partners with Customer Service, Planning, Production, Purchasing, and Logistics providers to resolve customer delivery escalations, manage shipping performance, and maintain adequate inventories of packaging and shipping supplies required to support business operations. This role is fully onsite, must support all shifts of operations, and plays a critical role in supporting operational excellence, inventory integrity, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement initiatives. Principle Duties and Responsibilities Safety Leadership • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor and warehouse team. • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout warehouse operations. • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, forklift requirements, and warehouse procedures. • Support employee development, training, performance management, and succession planning activities. Inventory Control & Cycle Count Management • Develop, maintain, and execute a cycle count program across Mixing, Extrusion, Finishing, and Shipping/Receiving operations. • Perform and oversee daily physical inventory audits to ensure inventory accuracy and transaction integrity. • Analyze inventory variances and identify root causes related to material consumption, production reporting, scrap, remnants, and inventory transactions. • Partner with Production, Planning, and Finance to resolve inventory discrepancies and improve inventory accuracy. • Develop standard processes and continuous improvement initiatives that reduce inventory variance and improve material visibility. • Maintain inventory control processes for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods. Warehouse Operations & Material Flow • Oversee warehouse operations supporting production and customer delivery requirements. • Ensure efficient material movement between warehouse locations and manufacturing departments. • Support production flow by ensuring materials are staged and available to Mixing, Extrusion, and Finishing operations. • Monitor warehouse organization, storage utilization, and inventory controls. • Drive improvements to warehouse productivity, material handling, and inventory management processes. • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with union-represented employees and labor leadership while ensuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement Packaging & Supply Management • Manage inventory levels for pallets, boxes, reels, packaging materials, labels, and shipping supplies. • Partner with the Raw Material Buyer and suppliers to maintain appropriate inventory levels while controlling costs. • Monitor consumption trends and adjust ordering strategies to support production and shipping requirements. • Identify opportunities to improve packaging utilization, reduce waste, and optimize inventory investment. Continuous Improvement • Follows ERP standard work as prescribed and trained for the role. • Develop and implement improvements related to inventory accuracy, warehouse efficiency, material flow, and logistics performance. • Utilize ERP data and operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. Position Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, business, or related field preferred. • 2-3 experience in warehouse, logistics, inventory control, or manufacturing operations. • 1 or more years of leadership experience managing supervisors and hourly employees. Working in a union environment is preferred. • Strong understanding of inventory management, cycle counting, warehouse operations, and manufacturing material flow. • Proficiency in ERP systems; D365F&O/SAP/Oracle preferred. • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills preferred. • Excellent written and verbal communication required. Work Environment & Physical Demands The Warehouse Manager is a “work every day at the factory” role. This position is based primarily in an office setting within a manufacturing facility. Daily responsibilities involve extensive use of computers, phones, and standard office equipment to support production operations. This role requires entering the shop floor and visiting outside processors. which can involve standing, walking, bending, and lifting materials or documents (up to 30 lbs.). Requirements
Candidates should have 2-3 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing operations with at least one year of leadership experience. A bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations, or a related field is preferred, along with proficiency in ERP systems.
