Job Summary

Manage Aviation Maintenance’s Distribution Center.  Provide direct supervision to Supervisor and Lead, and provide oversight of the Distribution Center staff and operations.

This position will report to the Logistics Manager and will provide reporting related to data accuracy of Aviation Maintenance Material Repair Parts Inventory.  Partnering with the Logistics Manager, this position will be expected to plan and implement Best Practice solutions for materials management. Provide leadership and guidance to assigned leadership team to further develop knowledge and skills of Distribution Center staff.  Ensure appropriate staffing levels, job assignments and appropriate training is provided to ensure materials management objectives are met. Work collaboratively with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) Team, Maintenance Planners and Aviation Maintenance Business Analyst.  Perform inventory usage and performance trend analysis. Function as a Corporate Purchase Card User and authorizing official for assigned Aviation Maintenance Purchase Card Holders. This position will be expected to attend and actively participate in various planning and scheduling meetings.  Act as Subject-Matter Expert (SME) for Distribution Center Operations, when required. 

Work with Assets Manager and Crafts Leadership to identify inventory that is pending obsolescence or is in fact obsolete. Facilitate disposition of obsolete inventory though established Port procedure.

Establish professional working relationships with vendors, based on mutual respect, while meeting both cost and service expectations. Support the Port’s small business initiative by seeking out and providing small local business as well as minority-owned and woman-owned business the opportunity to enter into business arrangements with the Port.

Develop and Promote a safe workplace by ensuring proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is worn by the staff at all times while working. Convey the importance of personal and workplace safety amongst the Distribution Center Staff.

Background in Materials Management, Procurement and Logistics. Manage in a diverse operational environment. Have a working knowledge of inventory management processes, trend analysis, and basic reporting. Possess knowledge, experience, and the ability to work with computerized material management systems. 

Basic working knowledge or experience dealing with Collective Bargaining Units.    

Working knowledge of MS Office Suite Products. Ability to make key decisions
and adhere to established processes and procedures. Possess strong communication skills. Possess strong leadership abilities Create and maintain a positive work environment, promoting productivity and mutual respect

Associates Degree. Five (5) to Seven (7) years Managing Distribution Warehouse Operations in a leadership and decision making role.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Seven (7) to Ten (10) years Managing Distribution Warehouse or equivalent operations. Planning and coordinating material movement over an extended network.

Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)/IBM MAXIMO (User-Level) experience.

Driver's License

A valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required.

Environment Information

80% of time in office and environment and 20% of time working outdoors in all types of inclement weather.

Security Requirements

The successful candidate must pass a Transportation Security Administration background check.  Will also be fingerprinted for a criminal history background check with the FBI.  Candidate must complete and pass the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) and Aircraft Operation Area (AOA) training courses.  Hire date will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge.

Weekly Standard Hours

Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (37.5 hours per week).

The hiring range is between the minimum and midpoint of the compensation range and is based on the knowledge, skill, and experience of the successful candidate.
