Qualified candidate must have management experience and be a hands-on professional in an extremely high volume package and SKU picking environment distributing food and general merchandise supporting a retail marketplace.

Job Description and Responsibilities:
This is a hands-on position for a technically accomplished individual in large scale distribution operations, and advanced inventory management/ERP systems, developing and leading a team to execute daily all aspects in receiving, stocking, replenishing and shipping food and general merchandise. Develop team to perform cross-functionally while managing temporary staffing during peak volume periods, achieve 100% shipment and inventory accuracy levels, attain world class housekeeping standards and achieve same day order shipment or as major programs dictate. Interact daily with buyers, sales, customer service, distribution operations, outside suppliers and executive management to successfully achieve all strategic plan objectives with emphasis in applying cutting edge solutions to optimize our distribution operations.

  • Accountable for recommending direction, staffing, process/productivity improvement and cost reduction programs while managing day-to-day activities  to achieve strategic and tactical objectives.
  • Direct distribution operations inclusive of executing supply chain operation strategies to optimize performance, quality and reduction in costs. Develop, modify and implement world-class service levels (internal response, 100% order accuracy rates, and inventory management and accuracy objectives) consistent with business needs and major program requirements.
  • Motivate, coach, train and develop personnel (full time and temporary staffing) to ensure exceptionally trained and experienced staff and to continually improve team’s operational effectiveness.
  • Work closely with Procurement to improve order fill rates and resolve backorder issues.
  • Proactively seek new and innovative distribution strategies to move company to “best in class”. Deploy continuous effort to improve pick/pack operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Articulate needs; define requirements, and design/implement programs and methodologies that provide the greatest payback to business and team.
  • Prepare budgets and control costs within established standards
  • Establish work schedules, staffing and ensure that the schedules and staffing are correctly implemented and that jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly in a manner that supports same day and program order shipments.
  • Manage maintenance requirements, define capital expenditures, ensure all OSHA and regulatory provisions are in compliance and manage a safety training program and practices.
  • Maintain strict facilities security controls relative to personnel, non-employees and equipment/tools utilized.
  • Manage and ensure all aspects supporting merchandise receipts, stock put away, bin location management, FIFO control, outbound order accuracy, inventory cycle counts, product identification, product packaging and inventory accuracy are consistent with world class business expectations.
  • Oversee responsible warehouse area’s configuration and setup while streamlining receiving, put away, picking, packing and shipping processes.
  • Develop strategies that allow picking up to 15,000 SKU’s daily during peak volume periods with a 100% accuracy rate including management of a second shift and temporary staffing.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 7-10 years distribution operations management experience in a fast paced high volume distribution environment utilizing advanced software/technologies, preferably utilizing RF applications.
  • The ideal candidate must be willing to assist in all functions in the warehouse, including operation of material handling equipment, order pulling, scanning, stocking and packaging.
  • Strong budget planning and control experience.
  • Hands on experience with developing, implementing and managing distribution operations with expertise in a high volume operation.
  • Must have extensive experience utilizing ERP/WMS systems to maximize automation and must be able to be a resource for systems related issues/questions.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Supply Chain, Operations, Business and APICS certification.
  • Excellent proficiency in computer skills. Specifically Excel, Word, Power Point, Project and software systems supporting a wholesale/retail environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal skills, multi-tasker, forward thinking-visionary, strong sense of urgency, follow-up, decision making and judgment skills.
  • Demonstrated success leading and motivating teams with the ability to develop and build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with implementing/utilizing RF based technologies.
  • Preferably experience in managing 100,000+ sq. ft. high volume distribution operations.
